Bad Blogger

Dear Readers,
If I still have any readers... please forgive my more than brief hiatus from writing. Life has been a little bit crazy/busy/exhausting/and so so much more but I am happy to report that on Wednesday I am off work and will post pictures of some of the projects I've made for Jude's room.

Blessings,
Stacy

Kids are darn cute

During tonights episode of Glee (the Justin Bieber song) I was reminded of a precious moment at work last week. Sweet six year old "M" was showing me her new Justin Bieber book. As she was flipping through the pages she was telling me about each picture. Then she flipped it to a picture of Justin and Usher and said, "Here he is with his dad." I told her that it actually wasn't his dad and she argued, "How do you know?" I love that in her sweet mind there was absolutely no reason for him to not be.

If only everyone could see each other as family.

February update

I haven't really felt like reporting the latest update from our agency since it isn't really much of an update. For the month of February we are sitting at number 53 right where we were last month. We are praying for movement and continued peace in our hearts through this waiting time.

Sweet child, we love you and are coming. May God bless you and comfort you.

AGCI connection

Here is an awesome resource that connects many families within our agency. You can visit the blogs of the amazing families that share in our journey. Be sure to check out Hannah's Hope the transition home (orphanage) that our child will be in before he comes home.

The adoption community is such a blessing.

Saturday Song

I have always liked this song. When I heard it on the radio the other day it got stuck in my head. I started to think about the lyrics. It asks a very serious question, "Where is the love?"

Here are some of my favorite parts of the song lyrics.

But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our wrong direction

Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality

When I Close My Eyes and Dream...

Throughout the past year I often find myself closing my eyes and trying to picture Ethiopia. The busyness of the city, the peacefulness of the countryside, the beautiful people, and God's amazing creation. To be honest, I've dreamed about Africa my whole life. Ethiopia of course has been my focus for a year now. I've seen pictures on the internet and read books but nothing will compare to what we will experience when we step foot on Ethiopian soil.

Until then, I can close my eyes and picture this. These are some beautiful pictures taken by another AGCI family that just returned from their first trip to Ethiopia to meet their son. Check out all of their journey here.

January is a LONG month

Is it me or does January seem to drag on for.EVER? Maybe it is because November and December are packed full of holidays and busyness. Or maybe it is because Glee hasn't been on t.v. for over a month... just kidding (kind of).
Really though, so much has happened this month... {we started a business, built a website, RE-organized the house, had our hearts opened to so many new things with adoption, and the last few days have froze!}
Yesterday the temperature was -10! That is crazy cold. I don't remember ever having weather that cold, not even when we lived in Chicago. I got to wondering what the weather was like in Addis Ababa right now. It is 57. Oh how I wish we were there now loving on our little man and being much warmer.
We are blessed to have a cozy warm home and lots of blankets, but I have had trouble sleeping the past few nights, partially because of shivering, but mostly because I can't get my mind off of the number of homeless people in our community. Please join me in praying that they make it to a shelter each night.
I hope that all of you have had a blessed beginning to 2011.

I'm looking forward to the return of Glee this month!
